I am planning on going overseas and renting my home out for two years.  I found that "Landlord" insurance is quite a bit higher than my current homeowners policy.  Can I just keep my existing policy?

depends on the policy.  Some of them may not pay if they find out you are renting it out and you have a fire etc.  Ask the Insurance company.

Why would it be considerably higher when you are dropping all contents coverage?  Since you will be removing all your belongings, you can drop all coverage for those.

Get the right insurance policy, should you need to use it & its not listed as a rental, they may not have to cover you.

Its always most secure to make it clear by calling up the particular insurance company.I don't think its possible to keep it even its possible that might be some exclusion in coverage.
