I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on rehabbing a crack house.  I looked at a small apt building, good numbers but discovered it has a rep in town as a crack house.  I would love to own this property and clean up a little piece of town at the same time, does any one have any suggestions or know where I could find some info on the subject?

I know that within one of the counties near me they have this Safe Homes Safe Streets program that offers a Trespass Affidavit program. Here is a little info on this

The Trespass Affidavit Program is designed to fight against individuals loitering on posted property. Property owners interested in posting their property will have to sign an affidavit and complete a form listing all registered tenants for that property. These forms must then be mailed with a check or money order for $5.29 per sign to the District Attorney’s Office. Upon doing so, the District Attorney’s Office will provide signs that will notify the public that no trespassing is permitted. If law enforcement comes upon an individual who is not registered to be in the building or is a not a guest of one of the registered tenants, that individual can be arrested for trespassing.

You might be able to see if your county has the same thing.

Boo. what city/state has this program?  We don't have it here, but I sure would like to light a fire under some local officails to get a citywide program like this.

Albany New York

They started it about 6 months ago and they say the results are great.

I was at a meeting a couple of weeks ago with the DA and they did say that if any other agency would like to discuss how to set this up they would be more than happy to discuss it with them.

Here is some information

Thanks for the info Boo.  I appreciate it.  It sounds like a good program.  This would keep out any drug dealers, vagrants, ex-BFs, etc.  And it sounds like they implemented it for a very reasonable price!  Thanks again.
