Choking of rain gutters can have the rooftop water wash over the walls, windows, and doors, defeating the very purpose they were first installed for. Debris and rotting leaves peeping out of the rooftop gutter is not a very beautiful sight to behold. Hence, cleaning the gutters regularly is necessary. In most parts of the country gutters need to be cleaned at least three times in a year.

3 x a year?!!!  Leaves only fall in autumn.  Some trees may drop a few seeds in the spring, but usually not enough to warrant another cleaning.  Once a year is usually sufficient.

Dirt, leaves, tree limbs, roof gravel, and childrens toys all seam to find their way into your gutters. Debris in your gutters reduce the effectiveness to divert and remove water from and away from your home and foundation. Gutters can accumulate so much dirt in them that plants will start to grow in them. If you have trees near your home it is very likely you need your gutters cleaned. more here

Nonsense.  Unless you live directly under a tree that sheds large amounts of seeds and leaves, once a year is fine.  If you live under that tree I described, 2 x a year is fine.  Three is overkill and a waste of mioney.

Gutter guards have been known to reduce the frequency of gutter cleanings. Installing a gutter guard properly should lessen the number of times we will have to clean your gutters. We have cleans the Gutter once a year.

40 Years Clog Free 100% Guaranteed!

Richard here from North Shore Gutters in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

This is a great topic.  Here is the thing.  Only 1 company to my knowledge offers a 100% clog free gutter system with their 3 step gutter screening system.

The first thing you need is proper holes.  Yes, round holes.  This allows the water to get into the gutter and also allows the small debris like pine needles and such threw.  Now, with other brands, they try to stop everything from getting in which is impossible.  The key is to have easy flow funnels, and cleanouts on the downpipes with concave / convex strips to handle the pine needles and smaller debris.

The only way you can get a guaranteed 100% warranty is to have the complete system installed.  Most gutter companies say you only need the screening, cleanouts, or easy flows.

From our 20 years experience we know better.  If you want a truly clog free system that does not have to be cleaned you need to contact us or watch the video I have at the bottom of this post.

Also you can always contact me directly.

The main purpose of a rain gutter is to protect a building's foundation by channeling water away from its base. The gutter also helps to reduce erosion, prevents leaks in basements and crawlspaces.
