So currently I'm moving my grandmother to live with me.  She own's the current house she was living in, therefore she had the homestead tax exemption.  What happens now that she is going to be leaving it? (No longer her permanent residence)

We are planning on renting out the property.  How does this affect things?

You will lose the homestead exemption.
