1st get rid of the problem, tenant, tenant with "new" used appliances, tenant with "dirty habits." The combat gel is sooo easy to use, also the boric acid powder.

First there are elements of survival which are food, water and place to live. If something is infested with roaches one can toss it out on a cold day or night then the roaches will make a run for it. Chalking all the cracks in the baseboards then fill around the water and drain pipe with insulation foam will eliminate the homes where the roaches can start a new family. Fix any dripping faucets or remove any water source. Drain the defrost pan in the refrigerator then put bleach in the pan. Clean thoroughly behind the fridge and stove removing any food source. Finally use max force, combat gel along with bait stations. Roach traps work if placed around the perimeter of the room. The above is called Integrated Pest Control or IPM. In other words make it impossible for roaches to live. Roaches always travel around the perimeter of the room never in the centre of the room. Had a problem with roaches over a year ago now the roaches are gone. Placing bait stations to be sure there is return of roaches. --

Yes with complete success. Search roach in Message or Title for LOTs of detailed info. Follow the tips above. Robert (ON), Sean (CA), BillyButton (MD) was of great help as well as many others with my recent roach problems which are solved.
Copperseeds and bugspray you can order products online.
Maxforce Gel, advert is maxforce gel in a spray can with a fine tip to get into tight places, Gentrol is spray that is odorless and colorless. Gentrol makes the roaches sterile so they cannot reproduce. Maxforce Gel is candy to roaches they are drawn to it. You can feed the boogers right from the gel applicator. I've done it. The gel they ingest and die. The other roaches eat the dead and die from eating the bait saturated roach carcass.
Paint everything with a good primer and a good coat/s of paint. Getting rid of the smell of roaches will get them gone faster.
Get rid of the water sources. Put bleach in your drip pan of your refers. Close the toilet lids and or put bleach in the water when the place isn't in use. Make sure sinks bath tub/showers don't drip. Caulk up inside of cabinets, floor boards, around windows.
Seal up around pipes like under sinks. Use foam, white duct tape, wall mud, plastic cement. I removed all the carpeting also and tossed it. Padding too if you use padding.
Be Patient. Gel will take about a month to do its job. It will do it. Do not bomb and gel together or too close together. Bombing will make the gel worthless.

I had been using combat get for years with mixed results, I now use what the exterminators use, cypermethrine sold on ebay. one container mixes up to like 50 gallons and is really cheap, I use a hose sprayer and spray cracks and crevices, baseboards under/behind appliances and cabinet with one or 2 gallons. If they were real bad I go back and do it again after a week and then apply combat for long lasting effect. --220.127.116.11

I haven't read anything about fire getting rid of roaches. I have however read several times in various places that COLD/freezing will kill roaches and kill the roach eggs.
To put smaller items you want to be roach free in the freezer.
On Monday December 3rd 2007 I will be treating all 10 of your apartments again. NO prep will be needed.
It is not harmful to children or pets. This is the gel and baiting part of the process. Also called by some Pest experts
the "No Chemical pest solution." The following is the text from http://www.Cooperseeds.com where I ordered some
of these products. I will be using 3 different products.
1.) MAXFORCE Gel
Let the Roaches do the work for you. They will pick up the gel and carry it back to the nest inside your walls and destroy the entire colony. No need to use a liquid spray. That would only force them back in the walls and they would find a new path around the treated area.
The gentrol is a birth control for roaches. Keeps them from breeding. The traps will catch any you miss and let you know where to apply bait. The new select bait is the most accepted bait on the market. Roaches are easy to kill if you get bait acceptance.
3.) Maxforce FC Roach Bait Stations are all about fast control and secondary kill. Due to Fipronil and its accelerated Domino Effect™ kill Maxforce FC Roach Bait Stations start to kill roaches in just eight hours. And field tests show 75% population reductions in just two days for roaches! Maxforce FC Ant Bait Stations start to kill ants in just six hours. And tests show 90% population reductions in just four days for ants!
The bait formula is irresistible to roaches, and works that fast.
It's also convenient and easy to use. The small roach and ant bait station bags contain loose-packed single stations and are resealable to keep baits fresh and protected from contamination. Plus, the patented inspectable red station lids now have an additional feature: A debossed lid that's index welded to the base, creating even greater bait station integrity. And, the easy peel-and-stick adhesive makes application fast.
Accelerated Maxforce Domino Effect™ Our new fast control formula still gives you superior long-term control of roaches compared to contact sprays. The new active ingredient, Fipronil, provides a unique mode of action that works through both ingestion and contact, knocking down roaches that eat or simply touch the bait. Either way, one contaminated roach kills many others where they live and breed. The Domino Effect™ still achieves population control, but with faster visible results.
Thank you for working with me to make our home a bug free environment once again.
As always please feel free to contact me when you have concerns about our building.
Communication is the key to all positive relationships.
A couple more tips. What I did was to bomb all 10 units. With only a few here and there until I had the Piggies/2 legged roaches, in units 3 and 4. Out of my property. This building is 2 story 5 units up and 5 units down.
I used Raid fumigators 3 in each 1 bedroom apartment. Starting from the far ends working towards the 2 infested units. Driving the creepies towards the two Infested units.
6 7 8 9 10 Upper
1 2 3 4 5 Lower
I started bombing in 6 + 10 then 7 + 9 then 8.
Next 1 + 5
Did 3 + 4.
Asked all tenants when they went back in after the bombing if they found any dead roaches. Only a couple in #8, couple in #1 and #2. Units 3 & 4 good googlie mooglie. Eweeo...
If you have a roach problem in an area that doesn't freeze. Like CA, FL, NV, New Mexico, to name a couple. You need to take aggressive action and stay on it.
Bombs & Sprays are roach repellents. They make the roaches want to steer clear.
Gels =Maxforce/Combat are baits. They draw the roaches to them. To feed on and die from the posion. They have roach stink Luv potion #86 in them. The gel to die for.
Powders. Many powders kill by dehydrating. When walked on. The crystals make cuts on the roach’s feet/legs. The powder dehydrates the roach through these cuts.
If you have occupied units your Tenants must be willing to work with you. As Mike mentioned you cannot have clutter. I had pack rats/hoarders in unit #4. KayRapp 4 foot deep and 5 foot tall around all walls.
I also used boric acid inside of the light switches and wall plugs with the plates off to get the boric acid inside of the walls. Boric acid can be harmful to pets and children. So be careful and thoughtful when treating units with this product as well as all pest treatments.
Ways to apply Gel bait. I tear-up the cardboard box that Maxforce comes in. Into chunks. Apply a bait line on the cardboard. Slip the cardboard maxforce laidened pieces under stoves. Under refers
in cabinets. Take the kitchen drawers out and put some painters tape on the back outside drawer backs that face the wallls. Apply the maxforce to the tape. Next application, remove the old tape and apply new tape and gel.
Open up a cabinet. The frame around the door on the inside top is a good application area.
The under side of cabinets many are recessed. Apply there. Underside of sinks in kitchens and bathrooms.
Up under counter-top edges. Inside of air vents.
Apply every 15 days for 3 sessions. You should be done with the creepies by the end of the 3rd 15 day treatment.
Include roach baiting as part of your turn over process.
I did a compare between combat and maxforce gel bait.. Maxforce was better hands down for me.
Maxforce for me was better in kill force. Quickness to kill and lasted longer.
