Is Illinois a term or literal state?

I rent a room out of my house.

I have a tenant that gave notice on 10/25 about vacating on 11/25.  He then prorated his November rent 5 days without discussion with me.  He is stating that if I deduct the money from the security deposit he will take me to court as well as report me for being unlicensed and some other bogus charges.

The lease is month to month and there are no provisions in the lease for moving out early and prorating rent.  We did prorate rent a few days when he moved in - which I know is proper.
