Hi. I moved into a place and the landlord asked "so what brought you to the area." I explained we have come because there was such a great need for foster homes." He replied saying he'd adopted a child himself. when the landlord insisted on putting both my name and my daughters name as tenants i told him "that will change when we get into the foster program." He said, "we'll list them as they come in."
Now just 5 days after i told him that we were being bumped into the emergency foster care system. and i wanted to make sure he wasnt going to set a limit (the bedrooms are very large which is why i rented this apartment). He said, "your not a daycare in my apartment." Says he doesnt remember any mention of fostering and absolutely refuses to hear anything about it and with a 6 month lease i'm supposed to stay in apartment i wouldn't normally have rented with just me and my daughter? He says that only the people listed on the lease are allowed to stay. I want a large family. I am not running a daycare i am hoping to find permanent additions to our family. I have tried repeatedly to discuss this with him but he refuses to hear my side of it. (along with his sexual comments) i'm finding this landlord is treating me very badly. Can a landlord evict us if we go into foster care if we dont go over city occupant limits? He has other families here with more children than i have or would plan on having (i plan on having 3 all together). IN the state of oregon by the way. Thank you for your advice in advance.

As long as you are within state ordnance for occupancy he can do nothing about it. Anyone under 18 is not allowed on a lease...as long as you have the rooms required by the state for foster car, I would consult an attorney. (I recently had the same problem in Mississippi)
