We have just moved in to a house with our 3 children.  After moving in and signing a lease we found out from a friend that the property we're renting is for sale.  Do we have rights?  Shouldn't our landlord have told us the property for for sale?

See your post above.  The sale of the house does not affect you.  Your lease merely transfers to the new owner who must honor it until it expires.  You need not sign a new lease with the new owner unless your lease has ended.  Simply provide the new owner with a copy of your current lease and they must honor it.  If your original lease has ended, you need to either sign a new lease with the new owner (if that is what s/he wants), remain as a month to month tenant (subject to vacate notice or rent increase with usually 30 days notice), or move to a new place.

The problem is she's selling the property as a single family home, not a rental property and we only signed a 4 month lease.  She mislead us and had we know before that she property was for sale we wouldn't have rented the house.  Can we take her to court for misleading us?  We had to change schools for the kids and everything!
