I am a relatively new landlady who has just got my first bad tennant. Can anyone advise me of how much it will cost to evict this tennant who flatly refuses to pay me anymore rent.

That depends on your state and local laws. In Virginia, it is probably under $100 in court fees. This assumes you aren't using an attorney (which I would, unless you REALLY understand the process) and doesn't count lost rent between today and when you actually get them out. Keep in mind, making one mistake during the months-long process could result in having to start all over.

Depending on the process and laws in your state it could vary widely but here is a good article from Landlordology outlining some of the costs you can expect to incur.

Good luck!
