Renters insurance protects us in circumstances that one and all can face: fire, theft, water damage and other unanticipated circumstances — situations our apartment owner's policy doesn't cover. That is why renter’s insurance policy is also very important thing for home owners.

LLs should remind tenants at signing that the homeowner's insurance doesn't cover them.  Our lease explains this and states plainly that it is strongly advised that they seek their own insurance.  Tenants must initial this section to show that they understand their belongings are not covered.

I also have a section in the lease that states that my insurance doesn't cover the tenant's belongings and its recommended that they get renter's insurance.

We make them specificly initial that section. Every time something comes up, they always claim we didn't tell them even though its in the lease.

Yes, I agree that renters insurance is very important for homeowners. Thank you for emphasizing on it.

Landlord can file a claim on the renters insurance policy if the renters damages the property.

Thus, property owners need to require their tenants to have that insurance. And this article  https://rentberry.com/blog/potential-tenant-interview claims that it’s is also beneficial to have the tenant show proof of such insurance coverage within days of the date of signature of the rental Agreement.
