Trying to rent my apartment. Should I post an ad in the newspaper for the month of December? Do people usually want to move before xmas?
Or should I wait after the month of december and post the ad after the 1st of the year?

Well if you do not mind spending the money for the ad, try it. It is generally not a popular time to rent. But you may get lucky, someone may need to move this month out of necessity.Or if they do not want to move before the holidays but want the place they can give you a non-refundable holding fee which would be applied to the 1st month's rent when they do move in.

You would be surprised. Mine was sitting there for weeks and all of the sudden, multiple applications to move in on December.

I would go ahead and post an ad.  Tomorrow is December 1 here in WI and we expect snow to come any day now.  Yet I posted an ad for a 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom single family and I've gotten 24 responses so far.

And because there is still work to do on the property, I specifically stated in the ad that I won't be showing the property for a couple weeks but I would takes names and numbers to contact for the open house.

If you have a quality property, people will move at any time in the year.
