I just installed a Ring Video Doorbell in my personal home and I am thinking about rolling it out across my SFH rentals.

Anyone else do this yet?  How have your tenants reacted to it?  Did they sign up for the annual service to record videos?  Did you charge more for rent?

We haven't. I don't see this as a selling point to most renters. I think too many will see it as their landlord trying to spy on them. Many people don't trust this type of electronic monitoring in their home to begin with, so it being set up by someone else will only make it that much worse. I think anyone who would actually want it will ask you if you don't mind if they add it, and that will be rare.

I didn't think of that!

Ring doesn't work that way but I can see your point about someone being suspicious about having one on their rental.

Only the tenant can access the Ring device once it is is transferred from one tenant to the next.  The landlord wouldn't be able to see or hear anything from the device unless the tenant wanted to give the landlord access.

I still think it's an attractive feature to the right (tech savvy) tenant but your point is taken.  Thanks.
