I have an eviction hearing set for 13 days from now because of failure to pay rent.  Everyone is telling me I should still be contacting the tenant asking for rent.  A lawyer I consulted said the time to talk is over.  13 days feels like an eternity when you are carrying two mortgages.

Do I still contact the tenant asking about rent?  (all of our contact has been professional.  nothing aggressive on either side)

Thank you in advance for your opinions!

It is best to limit contact at this point.  The tenant has already been put on notice that you expect payment or will take steps to evict so the ball is in his court if he chooses to pay or try to make a payment arrangement with you.
