I am really, really hoping I am making a mountain out of a mole-hill here. So one of our rental properties is located about 40 mins north of our home. Upon the purchase of this property, I made it a point to get acquainted with the neighbor, should we ever need anything and v/v. Well, we had new tenants move in about a month ago. We screened them, they checked out, no worries, everything seemed peachy.
I get a call from that neighbor today, who is very reliable and as far as I'm concerned, she's very trustworthy. She told me that a 3rd person has been living in the house for the past 2+ weeks, which right there is a no no as only TWO people are on the lease and in which we performed a background check. Apparently, according to the neighbor and other eyewitnesses, this 3rd person, a man in his 50's, will randomly walk around the property, handgun attached to his hip, and has made it known that he is "crazy".
Seriously? Um....absolutely not. This is not going to fly. I don't even know where to BEGIN with how to address this issue. In the state of PA, it's not illegal to carry a hand gun as long as it's not CONCEALED - if the weapon is concealed, a license is needed in order to do so.
Anyone ever have a similar issue or know where I should even start with this? We asked the tenants about this mystery man and they claim he simply visits them a few times a week, however the neighbors (plural mind you) are convinced he is living there because he told them he's living there.
Thanks in advance
